Principles for a Safer Space

Association Turun Suurtorin keskiaika ry adheres to the Principles of a Safer Space in all its operations. For us, the principles of a safer space refer to consideration and respectful treatment of everyone, ensuring everybody’s right to be themselves free of ridicule, discrimination, or harassment. By participating in Medieval Turku, organizers and visitors agree to commit to these principles.
Principles for a Safer Space in Medieval Turku:
Respect the physical and psychological integrity as well as self-determination of others. Do not harass anyone through words or by touching.
Avoid making assumptions about the gender, ethnic or national origin, language, religion, belief, socioeconomic position, functional abilities, health status, sexual orientation or any other qualities of others.
Do not ridicule, mock, or humiliate others with words or actions.
Offer everyone the opportunity to participate.
Listen and learn. Be open-minded towards new subjects, people, and points of view.
Apologize when you hurt others accidentally or on purpose.
If you encounter or witness harassment, discrimination or other inappropriate behavior during the Medieval Turku event, report it to security immediately.
