ASSOCIATION TURUN SUURTORIN KESKIAIKA

The association is a non-profit organization which endeavours to contribute to the knowledge and general interest in the history of the Middle Ages, archaeology, ancient techniques and craftsmanship. The members of the association Turun Suurtorin keskiaika ry are Aboa Vetus Ars Nova museum and associations Turun historiallinen yhdistys ry, Warusseppäin kilta ry, Turun Keskiaikaseura Unikankare, Varsinais-Suomen esittävän taiteen yhdistys ry, Turun kulttuuritapahtumien tuki ry, Real estate company Casagrandentalo and Wirran wartijat ry.

The association Turun Suurtorin keskiaika annually organizes the Medieval Turku event in the summer together with its partners, and in the autumn the Old Great Square’s Christmas event.

Aboa Vetus Ars Nova

Aboa Vetus Ars Nova is a museum of medieval history and contemporary arts. The ruins of houses and streets which have been unearthed and which are in Aboa Vetus are mainly from the Middle Ages. The exhibition which leads visitors to this old town quarter concentrates mainly to the 15th century and tells the history of Turku many centuries ago. Ars Nova is home for contemporary arts and visitors encounter museum´s own collection and changing exhibitions.

Turku Historical Society

Turku Historical Society (Turun historiallinen yhdistys ry) is an association for history researchers, teachers, students as well as people interested in history in general. The association aims to contribute to historical research and general interest in history. The association maintains contact between the history researchers and the public. The association organizes various trips, lectures and publish books.

WarusSeppäin kilta ry

The association WarusSeppäin kilta ry in Turku concentrates in medieval weapons and equipments. In addition they practice their warrior skills and animate history.

Turun Keskiaikaseura Unikankare ry

Turun Keskiaikaseura Unikankare ry is a sub society for Society for Creative Anachronism (the international medieval society). Unikankare is focused on researching and regenerating European cultures between 600 and 1600 AD.

Varsinais-Suomen esittävän taiteen yhdistys ry

The association Varsinais-Suomen esittävän taiteen yhdistys ry aims to maintain, improve and support the general interest in performing arts and culture in Southwest Finland. The association is formed by four music groups (Räikkä, Vapaat radikaalit, Sointu-Siskot ja Äimän käet) and one choir (Elysium).

Turun kulttuuritapahtumien tuki ry

The association Turun kulttuuritapahtumien tuki ry aims to maintain, support and improve the possibilities of registered associations to organize cultural events in Turku and its surroundings. In the summer 2010 the association was responsible for organizing the tournament yard and music performances at the Medieval market.

Real estate company Casagrandentalo

The Casagrande House offers a fascinating journey into Turku’s history. Located on the edge of Vähätori square, this block has played an active role in every phase of the city’s history since the Catholic Middle Ages. The current Holy Ghost Chapel was built on the ruins of the medieval Holy Ghost Church. The first records of the Holy Ghost House, maintained by the Holy Ghost Hospital located on the same site, date back to the 1390s. The property also houses businesses in various sectors, ranging from restaurants and interior design shops to cafés and private companies.

Wirran Wartijat ry

Wirran vartijat is an association founded in Turku in 2024 that focuses on the Early Middle Ages, with the aim of promoting knowledge of and interest in the Middle Ages. It helps bring events related to the era to life and organizes Viking and early medieval gatherings, workshops, and other fun activities.
